Rusty

Hi Donna,

I just thought I'd let you know that Rusty (previously Chip) is doing great!  It's been two weeks now and he's settling in fine.  As it turns out, he's NOT the "laid back" pup he pretended to be at the shelter. :-)  He has two modes: On & Off.  My husband and I didn't think we wanted a wild beast...but we love Rusty and wouldn't change a thing.

We are using the clicker method and Rusty has learned "Sit" and "Down."  We still have a lot of work to do with house breaking, mouthing, jumping, etc...but he does better every day.

He seems very happy here and Sky is starting to come around.  She still doesn't want to play, but I think she likes the company.  She definitely likes the extra treats that come with having a puppy around!

Rusty had a play date yesterday with my Dad's new Jack Russell.  They tussled and played NON-STOP for 45 minutes. We'll definitely be setting up more play dates!

Oh, Rusty did have ear mites so you might want to treat the other puppies he was housed with, or at least let the new adopters know when they take them home.  The treatment was less than $30 and that included Advantage Multi which covers fleas and heartworms as well as Otomax ear ointment so it was no big deal. But I know ear mites can be really bad if left untreated so I wanted to let you know.

Thanks again for all that you guys do for homeless animals. Rusty says to tell you thank you for taking such good care of him until he found a forever home!

Orion

Orion!   Orion!   Orion!

I just wanted to let you know how much our precious Orion has meant to us the past 2 months since he came to live with us.  We have alsways known he was supposed to be ours.  He is very loved, our three-year-old is always talking about "mine puppy Orion."  We are dedicated to being the best parents we can to him, currently our resolve in that matter is being tested but we are hopeful that we will be able to meet his needs.  Today is a very difficult day in our home as we will be putting Orion's older brother, 12 1/2 year old Aries, down due to complications from long-term kidney failure.  If that were not difficult enough a vet visit with Orion this morning confirmed my fears, in the last week he has developed severe cataracts in both eyes and blood tests confirmed that our baby is one of the rare cases of diabetes in puppies.  He has a rough road ahead since regulating this disease in puppies is difficult because they are growing to their insulin requirements change frequently but with our love and care we are looking forward to enjoying his playfulness and affection far a very long time!  Even with special needs I am so glad he a a part of our lives and can't imagine not having him.  I am attaching some pictures of him with his new family--hopefully soon he won't be so thin since we now know why he stopped gaining weight and then started losing again.

Eli

Eli!

Just wanted to share the good news that Eli was adopted! He's a great farm hand as we found out at his foster home and his new family has their own farm, too.  He's a sweetheart who learns quickly and gets along with everyone. Thanks for helping us to save him.

Dudley

Dudley!   Dudley!

Hi, Dorothy.

I adopted Doodle on Fri., 6/5. I took advantage of the bath @ Petsmart and he knew he looked handsome, he came to life and was so excited it was hard to take a picture because he would not stay still. He is an absolute love. I cannot believe his life was to end. He is smart, affectionate, obeys already. I noticed he did not respond to Doodle, I wanted to change his name to Dudley, so, started right away. He responds to Dudley. I am so happy with him, he gives alot of pleasure. I'm working on his training and am very optimistic. Thank you for facilitating my adoption of a wonderful dog. I hope the adoption event was successful.

Take care.

Joan M. Campbell.

Linus

Jack!   Jack!   Jack!

We want to let everyone know how Linus is doing and thank everyone that took care of him before we got him up to NY. He is a bit of a devil but he is really a loveable little thing. As long as he has you attention he is good, and if he doesn't he will find a way to get it. He has adapted well and has put life back into our 10 year old schnauzer Raz. We are looking forward to seeing how he likes the snow this year, now that he is a New Yorker. Thanks again!!!

Jackie, John, Linus and Raz

Zeus

Just wanted to let you know that Zeus (Ike) is doing amazing!!! He's the best dog ever.  We are so lucky...he's completely trustworthy with the kids.  All the neighborhood kids and other dogs have met him and he was a gentleman.

He's now running and playing like a puppy, happy as ever.  He's gained 6lbs already and he sleeps in our room so perfectly, does not leave his fluffy pillow.

We went to the vets again yesterday, to remove his stitches.  The vets said that whoever did his sutures, that they did a great job.  His mange is disappearing quicker than I thought,   He hardly scratches now. It sounds like I'm gushing and so mushy but it's so true, it was love at first sight. We love this dog. We'll send pictures soon.

Pippa

Pippa!

We went to the March Adoption event and waited in line for 8 hours before we were able to find our new friend!   She was so shy & timid - scared of all the noises and a bit under the weather. Now that she's been home and recovered from her ordeal, she has perked right up!

We've changed her name and she is rapidly learning all her manners.  She loves to snuggle & run and is slow to bark. We are so happy to have our forever dog! Special thanks to the 2 rescue groups that brought her into our lives - the SPCA of CT from Monroe, CT & the Etowah Valley Humane Society, from Cartersville, GA.

Jack

Jack!   Jack!

I just wanted to write and thank you for brinning Nap to CT so we could adopt him!  He isdoing really well here in Colchester and I think that he loves his new home.  We re-named him Jack and he likes it when we call him "Jack-Jack".  At first all he did is sleep but now he is so lively.  He has been to the vet today and has a clean bil;l of health.  He was not happy when he had to get shots for Lyme - but we have lots of trees and ticks here and we wnat him to be safe.  I have attached two pictures so you can see how well he is doing.

Thank you again and next time you come to CT, let us know and we'll bring him by to see you.

Sincerely,

Brandon Guifarro

Jake

Jake!

I just wanted to let you all know how great Jake (formally Scout-the "non-barking" Border Collie) is doing. We recently graduated from our beginner obedience class and have started intermediate. He has been the star of the class! I can remember how a little over 3 months ago when I adopted him how crazy he was...now he is almost the perfect gentleman and most definitely a beloved member of our family, even my other dog, Sadie who didn't want to have anything to do with him when they met at the shelter now sleeps by him every night. My mom has fallen for him too. She has always been timid around larger than 20 lbs dogs, but feels completely at ease with Jake. We have been working on some agility at home and have started in beginner classes. And of course he is absolutely excelling at this too! He is definitely everything I wanted in a Border Collie and more (he makes it worth the 10 year wait before I was finally able to get one)! I can't believe he was only a day away from being put down before you all rescued him! I can't thank you enough from taking him and giving him a second chance to be adopted. I will be sure to give you all another update when we get our CGC title! Oh and by the way, Jake found his "bark" and now uses it quite frequently (which thankfully I don't mind one bit). Thanks again for deciding to save him from death row... He truly is my best friend!

Sophie

Sophie!

Hi!

I just wanted to thank you ladies for all the wonderful work you do!!!  What a wonderful organization and because of all your love and dedication, we now  have a new dog we adore!!!

Sophie has been with us 1 week.  She is absolutely the sweetest dog we have ever met.  She loves to give love and receive it!  She was not potty trained so we are working with her on that.  She has #1 totally down and automatically looks up at me for her treat.  #2 is a different story, but we will continue with that.  We are crate training her and when we can we leave her outside.  She was not very familiar or comfortable with the outside at first, but now loves it...walking, investigating, exploring etc.

She has 2 cat brothers and Sophie is loving and accepting toward all!  The cats on the other hand are warming up to her. Sophie had her first exam this past week and has done well.  We will schedule her to be spayed in about 1 week. We will keep you posted  Thanks again for your dedication to this wonderful cause.

Katie

Katie!   Katie!   Katie!

Hello,

A little over a month ago, we adopted Katie at the Stamford, CT dog rescue.  We are very happy to inform you that Katie is doing great!  She loves her new home with us and her brother Jack (a Jack Russell Pug mix).  They play together all the time and go on long walks through the neighborhood and the park.  She is very loving and gets along with everyone wherever we take her.  Sorry we took so long to let you know how she was doing.  We are attaching a couple of picture of her to you.

Sincerely,

The Sullivan Family

Thomas Wilson

Good Morning, I just wanted to thank your pet adoption day, We, adopted the cat "SIR" but renamed him Thomas Wilson, he is in a very good home. We, cant stop playing with him, and we are in your system, looking for a yellow lab puppie, as we mentioned on our application, looking close to June. Thanks for all your good work, in finding these sweet animals a good home.

Buster

Buster!   Buster!   Buster!

I adopted (Booger) His new name is Buster. I've attached some photos. He's doing well. He had kennel cough. But that's gone now. After taking him to the vet. He is now being treated for hook worm. The medicine seems to be helping.

We're all adjusting to this lovely dog. He is so lovable and affectionate. Loves to be on your lap. He's getting along well with my neighbors dogs, loves to play and run with them. Hopefully I'll have my yard fenced in by summer. But he listens well. The vet says he needs to gain about three pounds. He loves table food. Of course we give it to him. He likes playing with all the toys and destroying them. We really are enjoying him.

Take care

Janet Stassano

Petey

Petey is doing great - he is such a good dog I cannot believe it.  I am enjoying him so much and cannot imagine him not being around.  He is spoiled rotten but why have a dog if you can't spoil him.

Gloria

Gloria!   Gloria!

We adopted Gloria (Harriet's sister) at the adoption event in Stamford on Fri., Mar 20 and I'm just now reporting that we are madly in love with her.  Sorry to take so long, but life's been full and so much more fun since she arrived.  She is so smart and loving to us all and trains very quickly.  We are attending puppy training at our local Petsmart and though she seemed shy with the other dogs and people at first, she is turning into a very social pup.  We go to a dog park in a neighboring town and she has a blast running with the other dogs.  On Easter, she had no problem meeting a houseful of guests and even sharing her space with my brother's dog.  She is a very healthy eater (DROP IT! is one of our most-used commands) and though always ready to present her belly for a rub, she is feisty and playful.

Thank you so much for bringing our precious Gloria north.  She is a joy beyond measure.

Jack

Jack!   Jack!   Jack!

I wanted to write to you and send some pictures letting you know how Dillan, is doing.

First, he is re-named Jack.  And he is such a great dog.  My boyfriend has fallen in love with him just like I did at the adoption in Stamford, CT.

He had a little puppy cold when I brought him home, so I brought him to the vet, and he is now doing wonderful!  He is so loving, follows me everywhere, and loves to snuggle!  I couldn't have asked for a better dog. He gets along with my mom's dogs when I go home and my best friend's dog too!  Now that the weather is warming up, we will be able to bring him to the dog park more often to meet some dog friends too.  It's a little cold for a dog who only weighs 4.7 pounds!!

I wanted to thank you for bringing such a wonderful dog into my life, he is better than I could have ever asked for.

Thank you again, and please take a look at the pictures I have attached at the bottom!!

Sincerely,

Danielle

George

George!

Its been a while since we brought George (Scruffy) home. He's been a special part of our life since. He brought so much joy and comfort to our family I couldn't believe its been almost a year and half since we saw him at your shelter. George is such a sweet dog that its hard to believe he's been living out on the streets. The attached picture is George with his little brother Hugo. They've been very entertaining pair, playing at times, fighting sometimes as well, and everywhere George goes, Hugo goes with him.

We really appreciate that you gave us the opportunity to have George and please keep up the good work!

David Yeah and Aileen Huang.

Biscuit

Biscuit!

We waited many hours on Friday March 20 for the chance to get this dog and she was well worth it.

She is sweet as can be and loved by all. I have to think whoever owned her, cared for her deeply, as she is so well trained and affectionate toward all. She is not fearful or timid at all. Unfortunately, she came to us with what we hope is just 'kennel cough'. It seems to be improving with each day of antibiotics.

We had our hearts set on this dog, and she has been everything we hoped she would be. We really can't believe she was still available to adopt so many hours into this event.

Thank you for all your hard work.

The Pety

Jake

Jake!   Jake!   Jake!

This is our family member Jake, formally known as Pete.  He was adopted in December 08 and he has totally stolen our hearts.  He loves to cuddle with me while I work on lesson plans and beg for food while I cook.  When my husband comes home from work, his first words are "where's my buddy" and Jake goes running.   My daughters treat him like a baby and he absolutely acts like one.

Elvis

Elvis!   Elvis!   Elvis!

It was not in my horizon to adopt another pet. But one day (Jan. 28, 2009) an accident took my little Bruiser Woods (Chihuahua) away from me. I was a total mess and could not put myself together, as my heart was broken in a million little pieces. I still cry every day, but with the help of my family, a grief counselor and my psychiatric doctor, I learned that I HAD to move forward. I got on line and I was able to find Etowah Valley Humane Society with a Chihuahua, just like my Bruiser.  I emailed and faxed my application with a hand written note about what had happened to little Bruiser. I prayed and left it all up to God. Thanks to Donna I was able to adopt Elvis, he is just like Bruiser. I am once again happy and thankful I was given the opportunity to rescue Elvis.

I'm writing this note to thank Donna and everyone involved in this process and caring for displaced animals. But also to encourage those that have lost a beloved pet to open their hearts (trust me I know that it's very painful) to help a homeless animal.

God Bless,

Vickie Garcia

Lilly

Lilly!   Lilly!   Lilly!

Hi there,

Just wanted to say thank you for letting us adopt Lilly (aka: rusty). This from a family who always said we'd get a dog..."someday". We've been married 16 years, had 2 kids and finally someday came. We didn't go looking for her necessarily, she found us! We went to the Acworth Petco to look at the puppies as my daughter always wants to do and there she was. (Funny thing is that her description said young male, Rusty?) Anyhow, she's a beautiful sweet little girl. She's so smart and very well behaved. She's getting along well with our 3 yr. old kitty and does great with kids!

So, thanks again and keep up the good work!

The Lewis Family

Sugar

Sugar!   Sugar!   Sugar!

Just wanted to give you an update on Sugar. She and my daughter are inseparable. She is thriving being the "only dog" with a Single Human. She has not had an accident inside and goes out in the fenced back yard to do her business.

My daughter takes her on daily walks on her leash in her gated community. She also takes her to the park on pretty days. They are a perfect match. I am the one who buys her frontline and heartworm preventative and her weekly grooming. After all that is what "Grandparents" do, right? We love Sugar and she has a forever home and we feel we all are very blessed to have each other.

Thank you and your devoted staff for your hard work and dedication to these very precious animals.

God Bless You,

Love,

Sandy Beck
